Operation Holiday in a Shoebox a huge success
Uxbridge Supports Our Troops would like to thank the community for helping out with the recent Holiday in a Shoebox
Campaign. Due to the overwhelming support of the community, the group was able to send out well over 200
holiday shoeboxes filled with personal care items, books, music, holiday decorations, snacks, and encouraging letters for
troops stationed overseas. Members of USOT, along with volunteers from the community, gathered at the Uxbridge
Town Hall the Saturday after Thanksgiving to wrap and pack the shoeboxes into large mailing boxes. It is
the hope of the committee that these boxes will add some comfort to our troops and send a heartfelt message that our community
is thinking of them, especially over the holidays.
USOT
would especially like to thank the Whitin Middle School and its families for collecting 195 filled shoeboxes, as well as the
Taft Elementary School for a very gracious monetary donation that resulted from their recent fourth grade spell-a-thon!
It is no doubt that the troops will be forever grateful for the support these young people and their families have
shown.
Donations of comfort items, as well as monetary donations, are greatly appreciated throughout the year.
Donations may be dropped off at the Whitin Middle School or at the Uxbridge town hall. Checks may
be made payable to Uxbridge Supports Our Troops. If you would like to learn more about how you can help,
or if you know of someone serving overseas and would like to add his or her name to the USOT mailing list, please call Linda
(508-278-9425) or Diane (508-278-5131) Or visit us on the web at www.uxbridgesupportsourtroops.com. Thank
you and best wishes for a very happy, healthy, and peaceful holiday season!
